What to know
- Identify every state and pass on the route before departure.
- Carry the required number and type of chains for drive, trailer and braking axles.
- Use each state's current placement diagram; tandem and trailer requirements differ.
- A closed road remains closed even if the vehicle is fully chained.
Fitment safety
Follow the vehicle manual and the traction-device maker's exact fitment table. Install only on the axle positions they permit, stop if anything rubs, and respect the device's maximum speed.
